Seller Policy
Last updated: October 2026
This policy applies to everyone who sells on Marita. By registering, you agree to it along with our Terms & Conditions.
Who can sell
Individuals and businesses in India with a valid PAN and a bank account in the seller’s name. A GSTIN is required where the law makes it mandatory for the products you sell. We may ask for documents at any point, and we can refuse or close a store if the details don’t check out.
Your listings
- Titles, photos, descriptions, size charts and prices must be accurate
- Use your own photos, or photos you have the right to use
- Choose the correct category and attributes (size, colour, fabric and so on)
- Keep your stock updated. Overselling leads to cancellations.
- Don’t list a product at a price you won’t honour
What you can’t sell
- Counterfeit, fake or “first copy” branded products
- Illegal items, weapons, drugs, tobacco and alcohol
- Stolen goods
- Adult content
- Products that are banned or restricted under Indian law
- Anything unsafe, expired or without the labelling the law requires
Orders and shipping
- Confirm and dispatch orders within 2 business days
- Pack products properly so they don’t get damaged
- Add the tracking number in your dashboard
- Don’t ask customers to pay or chat outside Marita
Cancellations
If you cancel an order after accepting it, or fail to ship on time, it counts against your seller rating. Repeated cancellations can lead to penalties or suspension.
Returns
You must accept returns and exchanges as described on our Returns & Refunds page (7 days from delivery). If a customer receives a wrong, damaged or defective product, the cost of the return and refund is yours.
Payouts
Payouts are made as described on the Fees & Commission page. We can hold or adjust a payout if there are pending disputes, returns or fraud checks, or if you owe us an amount.
Customer data
Customer details you receive are only for fulfilling that order. You can’t use them for marketing, sell them or share them with anyone.
Quality standards
We watch things like late dispatch, cancellations, return rates and customer complaints. Low performance can lead to warnings, reduced visibility or suspension.
Action we can take
If this policy is broken, we can remove listings, hold payouts, suspend the store or close it permanently. For serious violations such as counterfeits or fraud, we may report the matter to the authorities.
Closing your store
You can close your store at any time after completing pending orders and returns. Any pending payout will be settled after that.
Changes
We may update this policy. We’ll tell you by email or on your dashboard.
